Staying informed
Notifications: how caretakers stay informed
When a device is in Remote mode, caretakers are kept in the loop automatically — no polling the app required.
What triggers a notification
- Medication confirmed — the patient tapped “Medication Taken”.
- Medication missed — the miss timeout expired with no confirmation.
- Alarm triggered — a scheduled dose alert started on the device.
- Bug report — someone submitted a bug report from the device.
How notifications arrive
- Push notifications to the Medsage mobile app on caretakers’ phones (iOS and Android). On Android they arrive on a high-priority “Medsage Alerts” channel so a missed dose isn’t buried.
- Email is used as a fallback when a push notification can’t be delivered.
Notifications go to the device’s caretakers. There is currently no per-notification-type preference screen — caretakers receive the set above automatically. (Granular notification preferences are on the roadmap.)
Tips
- Make sure the app has notification permission on your phone; it asks on first login.
- If a household prefers quiet nights, remember the device’s own alert volume and sound are separate caretaker settings on the device itself.
