Managing medication schedules
Medication schedules are managed from the Medsage app by a caretaker (or by the patient themselves, if they use the app). The device alerts at each scheduled time and records whether the dose was confirmed.
What a schedule contains
- Medication name — e.g. “Metformin”.
- Dosage — free text, e.g. “500mg” or “2 tablets”.
- Compartment — which of the 8 compartments (slots) holds this medication. Only one active schedule can use a compartment at a time.
- Times — one or more dose times per day, in the device’s timezone. A device supports up to 12 scheduled times per day across all its active schedules.
- Instructions — optional, e.g. “Take with food”.
Creating a schedule
In the app, open the patient’s device and go to Medications → ”+ Add Medication”. Fill in the name, dosage, compartment, and dose times (the picker uses familiar AM/PM times), then save.
Pausing, resuming, and deleting
- Pause a schedule to stop its alerts without losing it — useful for a medication on hold. Resume it later with one tap.
- Delete removes the schedule permanently. Its adherence history stays in the event log.
Filling the compartments
Match each medication to its compartment number when you fill the device. The device’s caretaker-only “Refill Medication” mode records a camera audit clip of each refill session to the device’s SD card, so there’s a verifiable record of what was loaded.
Good to know
- Times use the device’s timezone (chosen during setup), not your phone’s — helpful when caretaker and patient live in different timezones.
- If a medication should only be taken on certain days, the device’s on-screen schedule editor supports per-day toggles.
- Changes made in the app are stored in your Medsage account immediately. If the device’s own alarms ever look out of date, see “Troubleshooting”.
