Device care

Device settings reference

Device settings live on the touchscreen under Settings and are protected by the caretaker PIN. The important ones:

Alerts

  • Alarm sound — “beep”, “siren”, or a custom sound file from the SD card.
  • Volume — how loud dose alerts play.
  • Miss timeout — how long an alert runs before the dose is recorded as missed: 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes, or “Never” (keeps alerting until confirmed).

Access

  • Caretaker PIN — 4–8 digits; unlocks caretaker mode on the device.
  • Access timeout — how long caretaker mode stays unlocked when idle: 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes, or 0 to stay unlocked.
  • Add Caretaker — shows the QR code for pairing another caretaker’s phone.

Display & time

  • Brightness, theme, UI scale — including larger text for low-vision users.
  • Timezone and 12/24-hour clock — schedules run on the device’s timezone.
  • Sleep timeout — screen dimming when idle.

Other

  • Speech recognition — enables spoken notes in wellness check-ins.
  • Automatically keep up to date — overnight firmware updates (see “Firmware updates”).
  • Bug report — sends device diagnostics to Medsage with a short message.

Some settings can also be changed remotely by a caretaker through the app when the device is online.
