Getting started
Connectivity modes: Remote, Local WiFi, Bluetooth, Standalone
During setup you choose how the device connects. You can change this later by re-running setup.
Remote (recommended)
WiFi plus a secure cloud connection. This is the full experience:
- Caretakers can see device status, schedules, and adherence history from anywhere.
- Push notifications for confirmed and missed doses.
- Automatic firmware updates.
- The device keeps accurate time via the internet, which matters for scheduling and power-outage recovery.
Local WiFi
The device joins your WiFi but talks only on your local network. Time sync works; remote monitoring from outside the home does not.
Bluetooth (BLE)
The device talks only to a phone within Bluetooth range. Good for tech-cautious households; managing the device requires being physically nearby.
Standalone
No network at all. The device works purely as an on-device medication alarm, managed entirely from its touchscreen. No app features, no notifications, no automatic time sync.
Notes
- Bluetooth is always used for initial setup and for caretaker pairing/unlock, regardless of mode.
- If your device has no network and loses power, it can’t verify how long the outage lasted — see “What happens after a power outage?”.
- The device connects to standard 2.4 GHz WiFi networks with WPA2.
